PROJECT BABEL

This work was created as part of an international collaborative printmaking project bringing together 335 printmakers from 40 studios across 19 countries. Inspired by The Great Tower of Babel (1563) by Pieter Bruegel the Elder, the project explored collaboration as a defining human characteristic.

Bruegel's original painting was divided into individual segments, with each artist reinterpreting a single section using their own preferred printmaking technique. The completed tower was first exhibited at Galleria Ratamo, Jyväskylä, Finland, as a collective testament to creativity, cooperation and the shared language of printmaking.
