The Mini Adventures of Shah Jahan 

The Mini Adventures of Shah Jahan began as a printmaking experiment rather than a planned body of work. While testing etching plates in search of a hard ground that could be removed with water, what was intended to be a series of rough trial plates gradually evolved into a collection of finished prints centred around one of South Asia's most iconic historical figures, Emperor Shah Jahan.

Instead of treating the plates as disposable experiments, each was prepared with the same level of care and precision as any completed etching. Every plate was meticulously grounded, drawn and etched, allowing the technical process itself to become an opportunity for creative exploration. As the experiments progressed, Shah Jahan emerged as a recurring protagonist, lending the series a playful yet thoughtful narrative quality.

The collection reflects the unpredictable nature of printmaking, where experimentation often gives rise to unexpected discoveries. It celebrates the value of process as much as the final image, demonstrating how technical inquiry can evolve into storytelling. Through this series, the boundaries between test, study, and finished artwork dissolve, transforming what began as a search for a new material into a light hearted exploration of history, craftsmanship and the joy of making.
